Exactly. And, for what it's worth, I have heard of at least one GDB dog who had to be sedated when they flew. I think that a lot of dogs never fly until they flyl with their handler.
Also, if I were in this situation, I might look at ways to desensitize the dog to the airport. I don't know how practical this is for David, but a lot of dogs are able to get past fears if they have enough positive experiences in a particular place.
