[nagdu] Story that I don't know what to think ab out

Marc,

EPI is exocrine pancreaatic insufficiency. Its where the pups pancreas does
not digest the carbs and fat in the food thus resulting in diarrhea. The
pancreas does not make the right enzymes to break those carbs and fats down.
It can effect dogs differently, but is common in shepards mostly. It can
happen at any point, and the good thing is that it is treatable. The remedy
is to get a enzyme replacement, which comes in a powder, that you put on the
pups food. And within a few days the diarrhea goes away. The name brand of
the powder is pretty expensive, in the range of $150 a month, but there are
less expensive alternatives on the market. In some dogs it can effect there
temperament, and in Em's case, it has effected her work. But of course
diarrhea effects it too. Some dogs have a weird feel to there coat, and in
the severe cases, they loose weight too. Emma has lost 12 pounds, but now
with the powder meds, hopefully she will start to put this weight back on.

I have become the EPI lady, LOL

Hopefully they find the cause of your pups chronic diarrhea, it can be
miserable for both human and pup.

Marsha

That, along with lots of other stuff is in the next battery of tests on
Wednesday. What is EPI anyway?
