Wow the instructors never offered to take the leash. but if he
was in harness they wouldn't pet him but they did talk to him
when in harness. He does good when we're with them but even
better when we're alone.

Hi there,
I saw the instructor who trained my dog today, at first I had him
sit,
then I gave the leash over to her, and he went crazy.
I thought it was wonderful that he loved on her so much.
then when she gave the leash back to me he settled rite down and
laid
down on the floor just like that.
When we went out to work, his work was wonderful.
We walked a mile, then went to the store had coffee visited and
came
home again.
She was so pleased on his work, and how well he was watching
everything, my feet hands face and very attentive to my needs.
When she goes back to the school she will give a good standing
for the team.
We did a swell trick.
first when we work the dog we have the leash around the rist hand
going
threw the leash, you then slide the leash so that you can do one
more
rap around the rist.
This shortens the leash so that the dog tried to put nose down
you will
feel it and be able to give a swell correction.
I love it.
His pull was quite nice, not hard not soft just firm and gentle.
He listens to my voice, and his ears go up as though he wanted to
fly.
I love it.
We are a team.
She shared that he loves being here.
She said that when you praise the dog, the more praise they get
the
better the dog loves it.
Or shall I say the more the dog loves it.
There are dogs that will do the work but they are not happy in
the home.
Because folks either feel silly talking to the dog, and praising
the dog silly.
You just talk in a very calm voice, but they love to hear it.
It was wonderful.

 what!
they make the dog get excited when they come to see you?
How is that helping you bond with him?
IMO the instructors are having trouble letting go.

It's not excuses they told me that the dogs should fet excited
because they have been working with the dogs for the past 6
months. And every time they come they always make contact with
the dog to make him more excited.

Yeah I'll ask Emceafor about it, but the last time they just
said
that the dogs will always get excited.

Did you talk with the instrutors about it? When I had a similar
problem, I found the dog would work for me in places we hadn't
been before. Be sure you are talking about it.

 to fix it.

Motley only wagged his tail at the trainer once when she came
 over with some
scissors to cut the hair around his eyes.

We were told to keep the dogs under control.

It wasn't easy at the beginning, but we did it somehow.

  Hello everyone,
When you first got your dogs, did your dogs go nuts when they
 saw
the trainers? What did you do? Did you let them go nuts and say
hi to the trainers or get them under control?

  Hi all,

When I first came home from Pilot with Motley, the trainer and
 my
  mobility
instructor worked on my area with Motley and I.

My mobility instructor seemed to be familiar with guide dogs
  because she and
  the trainer go way back.

Anyhow, she was able to help Motley and I along with routes
here
  in my
neighborhood, and it's worked out great!

  All my best,

  Chantel and Motley

I know that lots of these folks don't know much about dog use,
  but as they
show us a route, can't we tell them what we need? That's how
 I've
  dealt with
  any here.

In
