Marion,

In addition to getting the feedback from the list, perhaps writing to the
schools and their consumer affairs departments might prove fruitful in this
investigation?

Subject: [Nyagdu] What Assistance is Available for Acquiring a Service Dog?

Dear All,

Our national office has received a congressional inquiry
about what assistance is available for acquiring a service dog. I know of
what is generally available for acquiring a guide dog, though different
programs have different sorts of assistance. For instance, I know some
programs pay for travel, while others do not. Do other service dog training
programs charge for their training, either in whole or in part? Do they
provide transportation? Are there service organizations that will provide
assistance for obtaining a service dog, such as the types of assistance
sometimes provided by the Lions? Does anyone know if the Lions help those
with other disabilities obtain a service dog? What about other civic
organizations, such as Sertoma, Kiwanis, etc.?

Any information you provide will be helpful to me, others on
this list, and forwarded to Anil Lewis at our national office. I appreciate
your help in this matter.

Fraternally yours,

Marion Gwizdala
