If you decide to make your own dog treats, I can recommend two books from BARD. The first is the Good Food Cookbook for Dogs. It has fifty recipes for dog treats. I am not sure of the caloric value, but the recipes sound good and the book also gives general tips about making homemade treats. The other book is Homemade: How to Make Hundreds of Everyday Products Fast, Fresh, and More Naturally. It has some good recipes for things like Liver Snaps and a doggy birthday cake. It also has recipes for dog shampoo, a skunk cure, flea treatments, and a firm stool remedy. Beyond that, the book has many great recipes for other animals and for humans. I absolutely love this book!
