[nagdu] Barking Puppies!

Abigail,

Are you using a halty or a gentle leader? If you do not know the
difference, a gentle leader has only two straps where as the halty has more
and looks more like a horse halter.

Abigail,
There's nothing wrong with doing very light corrections with a Halti.
I suspect that is what you're using, since I don't think much of a
correction could be done with a gentle leader. Not in the way of guiding
anyway.
What you can also try is doing an obedience routine when your girl is
distracted. That should help her refocus. Also, you can also play the touch
game. Hopefully, your school taught you this. Essentially, when you give the
cue "touch," you offer your hand, and your dog will touch her nose to your
offered fist or open palm. You then reward her with whatever you typically
use for rewards whether it's verbal praise, treats, or scratching or
petting.
If you notice she is distracted, play this game with her to focus her
attention on you and her work.
