Cindy, I don't see there is a real problem with Larry's method; after all,
he still has a leg to stand on. (YIKES!)

: Larry, have you used a moving sidewalk? They are much longer than
escalators. I think you would have to stand with your foot constantly in
front of you. People walk by you on those, so it isn't as orderly as an
escalator. Many schools used to discourage people from doing escalators
because it was felt they are dangerous. Because there were many instances
where this was the only option, they began teaching the escalator. I think
they decided it was better to have a plan so that people were comfortable
and confident on them. The sidewalks can be navigated by going around them
and it isn't that inconvenient. They are not that much of a benefit. This
may be the only reason they are discouraged, but because you won't find the
end as easily, though yourmethod works, and because there is no really good
reason to use them, they maintain their hesitance about using them.

finds the end a couple of steps before Holly's does. I do this on purpose so
as not to run the risks folks have been talking about to her feet.

when one is coming to the end, so one doesn't know when to tell the dog to
jump over the place where the sidewalk goes into the ground. On an
escalator, I can tell when we're coming to the end by keeping my hand on the
rail, but maybe moving sidewalks don't have a rail.
