When I went, which was a long time ago, I think I turned left, went to the corner, and crossed both streets. Seems there was some grass over there. Things could have changed since then. I should think the hotel could give you an idea. Sounds, Marsha, as if it worked out.

So I walked down about half a block to the right of the hotel, and relieved between parked cars. This worked for us. And yes I picked up. Miss was distracted but did a great considering. Unfortunately I didn't have alot of time to stop and talk to the other guide dog users.
