Hello All,
I read so many of your story's and can not wait to get my own Guide Dog. I am going with Freedom Guide Dogs and they do training on the east cost and its done at home. They only place twice a year so I was told I would have my Guide this Fall or Spring. I can not wait to be a Guide mommy. What I would like to ask is how did your Guides do when you had kids? I am planing on starting a family soon. Thoughts and tips would be helpful.
Thanks,
Melissa Treaster

Abra got me through my college years where we'd had plenty of adventures and challenges. She also flew to Arkansas with me for 30 days at LWSB. When I got my job at Overbrook, she flew to Philadelphia with me and we spent 2 years together and she adjusted well from a country/small town girl to a city girl. She retired at 8 and a half as things began to scare her plus she was having hip problems. She retired with my mother and enjoyed 5 years of retirement. She passed at age 13 and a half. I enjoyed having Abra as she worked her magic every day.

> Sidney took off from her east Dallas home after fireworks spooked her. She is back home safe, much to the joy of her owner. (credit: Guide Dogs for the Blind)
>
> DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A missing guide dog for the blind named Sidney was found Saturday, according to Guide Dogs for the Blind (GDB), the nation?s largest guide dog school. He was reunited with his owner of four years, Caroline Mosely, who is legally blind.
>
> The five-year-old black Labrador, was reported missing from his East Dallas backyard Wednesday after fireworks spooked him.
>
> Mosely reached out to GDB, a nonprofit organization that breeds 900 dogs annually to train them to work with the blind and visually impaired, for help finding Sidney.
>
> The GDB and Mosely credit media reports, volunteers who posted flyers around the area where the dog was last seen and a special Facebook page for the happy reunion that ensued.
