Hi Marilyn.
Yes, Jericho Turnpike in Nassau County.  I had to cross it to get home from
the train station.  There was a light, but it was night, during an ice
storm, so there wasn't much traffic, and no one to ask.  I made my best
guess, and I guessed wrong.  My dog was killed.  It was a terrible night. An
audible signal would have save me a lot of sorrow.
