Cheryl, thank you for the update. 
It's too bad about the hotel, not to mention illegal. But I'm glad to hear that the university is helping with the expenses. 
Will you be blogging your trip? And specifically what is the trip for?

I forwarded your email and I think that the information you gave us, was really important when my professor went to the department head of modern languages and convinced her that they in fact needed to help me out. I know that she showed your information to this lady, and that's part of the reason they approved the $1800 to help me. :-)
