[nagdu] Random poop

Hi Eve,
I feel your pain! Pascal, my guide dog did this once or twice when I first got him. The first was when we went to Walmart the same day that I got home from GDB. We were in the craft section, and he squat down and had diarrhea. I did my best to clean it up, but it was difficult. We got a janitor to come and help us with a mop. We kept apologizing to him, but he said, "Don't worry about it. Thank you for shopping at Walmart." LOL
The ironic thing was, that this particular Walmart went out of business a few months later /smile/. I think my Mom and I were too embarrassed to go back there again.
Turns out that the diarrhea was caused by the food Pascal was eating, so I switched it to a new one, and he did fine.
My advice to you, is to give your dog ample time when relieving her, about 10 minutes. You can also try to relieve her before you go into a building or store. Many dogs are stimulated by walking, so walking around a store can stimulate them to defecate. You can also play with her for a few minutes to get her stimulated at home, then take her outside to go potty. If the problem persists call your school for more advice.
Best of luck to you and your girl.
Deanna and Pascal

Subject: [nagdu] Random poop

I hate to bring this up, but I am hoping someone has a great idea or insight. It is the poop schedule that I am talking about. I feed at the same times each day and can pretty much tell you exactly when she is going to have her morning and evening poops. It is the random poop that I do not know what to do about. She does not even poop three times every day, but when she does, it could come any time in the middle of the day or even late at night. Usually not an issue as I offer the opportunity often. Sometimes though... Well, as long as I have had her for going on only four months now, the random poop has surprised me in a store twice. Yes, both times were Walmart and it
could have been her way of protesting, but... I do clean it up
and never leave any sign of the gift behind, but what do I do? What can they do? My daughter asked if I could get in trouble. I said, "No." but I am not actually sure about this. Will, take advice, experiences, random comments, whatever. Thanks for listening to this crap. Eve
