[nagdu] Greeting People while in harness

Hi Eve,
Well, the 90 degrees never materialized but still was very nice out last
Friday!
Yeah, that's a good response to the people who don't want to leave your dog
alone. Treat these folks like they're like any other distraction. With the
leash on the head collar, GENTLY turn the dog's head AWAY from the
distraction and tell the dog, "Leave it". And hup-hup the dog if the
petting is a drive by variety - that is while the dog is guideing you and
you're walking.
Once your dog gets it that distracting towards and giving the person the
reaction from the dog they want, they'll soon give up. I find that people
are attracted to dogs that give them eye contact and wagging tails. When we
are walking, Landon will actually turn his head away when people try to get
his attention - even if they do a drive by petting. The people give up
because they don't get the desired attention back from the dog. This is
basically when we encounter strangers. Landon will respond if he sees
friends!

Well enjoy your heat wave. ;) Actually we are havingg about the same
temps, but no beach. I think I will try it. It is not at all that she
is solicitating the attention, but she bends to temptation when the
attention is so freely given by people. So because of this, I could
just tell anyone that asks that she wears it because of them. If all
these well meaning people would leave her alone, whe would not need
it. Might get the point accross. Thanks, Eve
