[nagdu] families and guide dogs

I have friends who tell me that Cass has turned her head too much this way
or that way, or that she looked too much at this person or that person and
shouldn't she just be looking straight ahead. I tell them to just mind their
own business and let her do her job. She looks this way or that way to know
what is around her. I can tell if she is doing something wrong. I know what
she is supposed to be doing more than they do. I tell them that if they see
Cass snatch a pancake off a plate while we are going to our table in a café,
then they can let me know, but other than that, keep quiet.

Daniel and Cass

Hello,
I am wondering if any of you have trouble with members of your family giving
you advice about what you are doing wrong to handle your dog? I am talking
about my sighted kids, too. Even when I am doing what I need to do, such as
making Felix settle down under the table in a restaurant, or to lay down at
some kind of meeting they seem to think I am not going fast enough. They
will admit when Felix is doing a great job guiding but will point out how he
put his nose down on the floor to eat something left there on the way out of
a restaurant. They want to take over and correct him. I tell them not to
do that, and it goes over their heads. My husband is an avid cane user but
has no problem with me having a dog. Even so, he can be overly critical
sometimes, too.

I use the Furminator.
It works really well.
I was upset because I thought I had lost mine.
When I was at the school they suggested not to use the Furminator. I think
there is a change now. I have other friends that use it.
Blessings,
Sincerely,
Melissa and Pj

thanks for the info. I've never seen a furminator but it sounds
interesting.
we are going to the national convention this year and would like to keep
the hair under control.and hopefully we won't be running around with
coats that we don't want. lo.
