[nagdu] Cruises

I've not been on a cruise, but here is what I've gotten from this list from
others who have.

You will need to request a relieving box in advance. this is a box or large
container with sod, woodchips or something similar where you can take your
dog to relieve on the ship. These are supposed to be put in a place where
you can get to them, but not on your balcony. It also shouldn't be a place
where only the staff is allowed, preventing you from entering on your own.

The other major thing is that every country has it's own laws about guide
dogs and the entrance requirements. Some will want advance notice, various
health certificates, proof of vaccinations or titer levels, proof of
training, proof of parasite treatment etc. If your ports are in the U.S. or
U.S. territories then you don't need to worry about the different laws.
Otherwise if you want to take your dog into another country, I'd start
figuring that out now, as some of the requirements will take some serious
advance planning.

I hope you have fun! I look forward to hearing about your adventures!
Julie

Good morning all:

I am interested in any info or experience any of you may have in cruising
with your Guide. Joyce & I are planning a cruise in Nov. with 7 ports of
call. The two pages of Regs. and requirements seem awesome. We have decided
to focus on just two ports and skip the rest. What have any of you
experienced in this situation?

Any experience advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Ken & Ace
