In Sweden, we aren't recommended to play with our dogs in a competing or aggressive way at all. We'll create thrust between each other and not creating conflicts. The theory is that it'll lead to a better partnership between me and my dog. The impression I got is that they recommend playful obedience as play time, our dogs want to work with us. PLaying with other dogs are okay but when I told them that Hera would only be allowed to have doggy time with my sister's dog they told me that it was exelent, dogs don't need social time with other dogs, they want to be with their pack (?). And we're not recommended to take the dog on a leash walk either. Work your dog they told me, even if you only will go around the corner to relieve her. Give her sniff time when you relieve her. Free runs are okay but they aren't recommended too often since the funniest thing for your dog will be working for you, where I live I've no good Place to free run my dog so when I got
her my guide dog instructor bought me a flexi leash which I can use, my dog's recall isn't the best, she's too sniffy. Just wanted to tell what we're taught on the other side of the sea. :)
