[nagdu] Ear infection

Faye has been scratching at her ear and quite agitated by it the last few days, so I took her to the vet today. She said it is an ear infection, and that Faye was the fifth dog just today that came in with an ear infection. She also said it is probably allergies. Is this common this time of year? What, if anything, can I do to prevent future infections?
