[nagdu] Heartworm pills

Dear Sherrill,
You have that right having lived in Florida twice myself; one
summer--I was actually in Georgia then--I had to switch flea meds because
what I was giving wasn't working.
Sometimes, sadly,, natural ingredients don't work. I believe part
of the problem is--and this is not a criticism of natural remedies--they may
work in certain areas better than others, and some pharmaceuticals are
actually created from natural ingredients--nothing is totally au naturale, I
am thinking; it is harder and harder to find foods, medications--anything
you need--that hasn't been processed to death.

Darla and all,
I used to use Comfortis, which didn't smell that great either, but I think
Fallon humored me by reluctantly chewing it up! Comfortis was strictly for
fleas, as I also gave her Heartguard for heartworm prevention. This Trifexis
all in one pill is hard to get used to, as every month I keep thinking I
need to give her a second pill. I just read the info on the Trifexis box,
and it mentions that this product is supposed to take care of fleas,
heartworms and intestinal worms. I guess scientists are trying to stay one
step ahead of the fleas, which were fast developing an immunity to
Frontline, which I have also used.
I'd love to use more natural products, but living in Florida calls for all
out war against dog abusing critters.

Thank you, Cheryl; I want to look these up; I'm wondering if Tr5ifexix is
similar to Ccomfortus? I don't recall it dealing with intestinal parasites,
too, but that may be so.

Tracy,
I'm using Trifexis now for Fallon, and it does have a rather odd nonfood
sort of smell, which is a bit disconcerting. But the Trifexis I give is a
combination heartworm/flea medication. It also includes prevention of
intestinal parasites. My vet recommended it, so I'm giving it a try. I do
wonder about it being able to take care of so many critters with one pill,
so I'm ready to switch to something else if Fallon exhibits any odd behavior
or obvious physical discomfort. I thought that Trifexis wasn't made solely
for heartworm prevention. Just wanted to mention that.
Hope Benny's up to his regular cat self right away.
