[nagdu] My guy dog: introduction

The difference between me and some of you is I don't remove the harness, it
is not the equipment that prevents a dog from parking, the dogs respond to
time and place and the situation.

So if it were me I wouldn't worry about the harness so much, I would pay
more attention to body language and letting the dog pull over or encouraging
him to relieve during the walk when I want it rather then when he just walks
and drops--smile.
JmMO, but it's worked for me for many a year. I think though all of us have
had our doggies relieve at least once when we didn't want them to, it seems
to be part of the first few months of getting to know your dog and him-her
getting to know you.

I wish you every success.

Big smile!

Dan

Hi Clare,
Congratulations on your completion of training with Quincy. Pascal loves to
chase his tail too, and when he catches it, he will continue to run around
in circles with it in his mouth, LOL.
As for the pooping in harness, Pascal used to do that as well. Are you
giving him a chance to use the bathroom before you go on routes with him?
It's a good idea to give him about 10 minutes for this before each outing.
Some dogs also need to exercise a bit before they can poop. So, you may want
to play tug or other activities with him before you head out. With Pascal I
got to know his body language and knew the signs of him having to go during
a walk, so I would stop, remove his harness and let him do his business on
the grass. It takes time, practice, and patience, but eventually you will
get it worked out. Best of luck!
Deanna and Pascal

Sent from my iPhone hi everyone! I return home this past day. I spent the
last 3 1/2 weeks in Columbus Ohio at pilot dogs. I received a 75 pound male
golden retriever named Quincy! And I are doing wonderfully. He's good work
has been stellar except for the fact that he is unsure trashbags and he
loves to pick up leaves. To play with his bone and spin in circles and
chases tail! He is only 15 months old! He has a tendency to poop in harness.
I am trying to figure out why that is. Perhaps it is stress? I am not sure.
He only pooped in once while in training with me on the walk.
