[nagdu] An update on the owner training situation

Hi Amber,

These are totally normal puppy behaviors. With regard to crate training, 
letting them whine and carry on until they get tired of it and settle 
down is usually part of the process. If you can get her really tired 
before crating her, that might help her calm down more quickly. You 
could also try leaving a yummy chew toy in the crate with her, so she 
has something else to occupy herself with while you're busy.

As to picking up things on the ground, closely monitoring the puppy is 
about all you can do, I think. If you're consistent, she'll eventually 
get the idea. Out of curiosity, what breed is your prospect?
