[nagdu] United Airlines?

Thanks, everyone! I feel a lot better. I have flown both Canadian major airlines, and Alaska Air in the States. I had to speak to United about something else, and they talked to me about seating. Because of the size of the plane, they bumped us up to rows 7-10, which have a bit more room. I was quite clear that I did not want the bulkhead, so I think we're good to go!
To answer Cindy's question, my husband is going with me, and he is sighted. I try and remind him to let me fight my own battles, and he is pretty good about backing off if I need him to.

I was once in an airport in the States not long after I got Jenny, and the airport staff separated us so that they could wand her. I was not aware this was against TSA guidelines, so I will be taking printouts of their rules regarding service dogs and handlers for use in such situations should they happen again.

I have flown United, what feels like a bazillion times in the last 3 months and am about to do it again! And I have never had a problem. I can't remember who said it, but you may have to do some educating about your right to sit anywhere on the aircraft as long as the seat you've chosen is in the same class of service for which you have paid. Airline staff, regardless of company, always try to tell me that "I have to sit in the bulkhead because it's for people like you." To which I very firmly and nicely educate them. I hate bulkhead. Also you may have to be equally firm with the person who wants to push you around the airport in the wheelchair, but that is more of an airport staff thing, rather than a problem with the airline.
Good luck!
