[nagdu] petting guide dog question

It depends. My second dog couldn't handle it. She loved attention too much and it didn't matter who she got it from. 
My first dog, could, but what I found was that the humans couldn't. What I mean is that I'd let someone pet the dog, and then they'd think that since I allowed them to do it once, then they could always do it. 
I found it was far easier to just say no petting and explain to the humans why that was the rule though you don't have to explain if you don't want to. 
Also John, how old are you? If you're an adult, your parents don't get to give you permission to get a dog. Their blessing and agreement will make life easier because after all, they are your mom and dad, but they are not the deciders on this issue. Only you are.

Hi,
I have a question: I know that this topic has already been talked about so I do apologize for reposting it.
I had talked with my parents and they said that they were ok with me getting a guide dog.
My mom had asked me, if me and the guide dog were just sitting there and the guide dog wasn’t working, what would I say to some one who wanted to pet him?
I remember a lot of people saying that while the guide dog is working, people are not supposed to pet him.
I’m just wondering:  when your not working with the guide dog, do you allow other people to pet them?
