[nagdu] Retired Guides; Do the same access laws apply?

Agreed. I am not an owner trainer, obviously, but, from what I have read on
the list, it sounds as though owner trainers have to start the process of
getting the next dog a lot sooner than people who receive their dogs from
schools. Obviously this is not always the case, but, from the people on the
list, it seems that, more often than not with owner trainers, when the next
dog is ready to start working, the last dog is not quite ready to retire, or
at least not completely. That being said, I think that it is hard for many
dogs to stop working, even if their body indicates it. When I am visiting my
parents, and we get ready to go somewhere as a family, Lexia still runs to
the door like she is coming with us.

But you could, if you wanted. Julie J's argument is an interesting one I
never thought of before. If, say, I occasionally worked my retired guide to
some place in the neighborhood, he'd still technically be a service dog. I
think it might give my current guide kinnipchins, but it could certainly be
done.
