Each year, Outlook-Long Island elects winners in different award categories
and celebrates their many accomplishments. Rizzi, who in 2006 unexpectedly
and completely lost his sight, became an advocate for the blind and visually
impaired, providing education, building awareness, and working to achieve
the development and dissemination of assistive technologies. The Activist of
the Year Award recognizes his tireless efforts to promote equality for
people of all abilities.
