[nagdu] Sad news regarding Sophie

In fairness, she may not have known what she wanted in a guide dog school
the first time out.
It's like anything else, you don't know what you want until you have some
experience with the issue at hand, and we all build assumptions into what we
are doing.
For example, "What do you want in a house" is a hard question. You know you
want four walls and a rough, but all houses come with those. You may not
know until you have experienced a multistory house that you really do want a
house with only one level.
I say all this so you don't beat yourself about "knowing what you want".
None of us do and it isn't unique to guide dog schools.

Hi Alyssa,

I am so sorry this happened to you. How terrible.

I agree with what has been said. Research is your friend, and it would help
to make lists of things you want from a school. When you narrow your
choices down, it might help to talk to the school itself as well as
graduates of the programs you are thinking about.

Good luck, and feel free to email me off list if you have questions about
this process.
