LOL, doesn't he ever learn? My friend's cat got skunked once, and, although
it did not make the cat afraid of skunks, it did teach him how close he
could get without getting in range.

The television show Mythbusters did an episode on "de-skunking" a few years
back and their conclusion was that Andrew's recipe (below) was the most
effective solution. I believe the most important part to be the hydrogen
peroxide. Also, I used dish soap with orange zest which kind of covered up
any lingering scent. My lab (Murtaugh) LOVES to chase skunks and most
recently was sprayed in the face! He still gets wide eyed when we see one
though. :)
