yes. i did have this same experience with my current dog.
i was totally shocked and embarrassed, and stressed out. the first time it happened was on the way home from the school so, i did not know the dog that well and, she was so freaked out that i thought she might bite someone, perhaps even me. i had never seen such behavior before.
this was completely unacceptable behavior for me and, i feared that i would have to retire her because of it. i fly often and most definitely need the dog to guide me during trips.
luckily, i was able to work with her and do not have this problem any more.
