In general, yes, especially in terms of you pay less, you are more likely to
get crap, but, in the other direction, not always true.. You may pay a lot
for a particular dog food, but that does not necessarily mean that it is
going to be good quality, particularly since "good quality" may have
different means for different dogs depend on allergies and a myriad of other
factors.

With pet food, like people food, you get what you pay for.  Iam's  doesn't
have a good reputation.

When I got her she was on Iams, which didn't sit well, we tried Iams,
Natures recipe which she was allergic to, and then homemade dog food,
which something in it wasn't agreeing, we suspect the salt content.
They put her on purina pro plan and so far, so good.
