Thanks to all for your responses and welcome. It was helpful for me to know that the ADA should still apply to Uber. I used the service twice yesterday and had no access problems at all.

Best,
Greg

> Hello Craig welcome to the list! I'm glad you joined us. That's great that you're working with the dog and else also teaching children. I am a regular Uber user, and I have not had any issues with my seeing-eye dog. As others have said you can communicate with the driver before he or she arrives. There are options to either send a text message or call. It really is a very great service. Let us know how it goes!

Although there is no way to alert the driver that you have a service dog, the app is able to tell you when the driver is close, so you will at least know if or when the driver decides to drive away from you if you have a dog.

Do the same ADA laws that apply to taxis also apply to Uber? I have run into enough friction in my area from uneducated cab drivers that I generally try to notify the cab dispatch that I have a service animal when I request a ride so that I don’t have to argue with cab drivers when they arrive. Is there a way to notify the Uber driver ahead of time that I have a service animal? Do others on this list recommend disclosing that I have a dog ahead of time or not? I am open to feedback.
