Doug,
I do not know, usually humans take syrup of ipecac which is a syrup derived from the roots of a plant. I have never tried giving syrup of ipecac to a dog.
And I have given peroxide more than my fair share— which is what you sign yourself up for when you are an herbalist working primarilly with dogs. People call you and they need hand-holding, whether online or face to face. Not my favorite 2 am activity, but I'm glad I know how to do it.
