[nagdu] Purchasing a Guiding Harness

Daryl,

There is a lot of variance between leather harnesses from guide dog
programs. There is even more variety when you consider the types of
harnesses the European schools use.

When I was making harnesses full time under the business name, On The Go, I
made two main styles, the standard and sport. The standard style is similar
to the type of harness used by the American schools. The sport style has a
Y shape to the front of the harness, meaning there are straps that go over
the dogs shoulders and meet in front at the top of the breastbone. Then
there is a martingale that goes between the dog's front legs to keep the
harness in place.

However I have never made two harnesses exactly alike. They are custom made
with your choice of colors, style, extra features etc. If you want
something and it doesn't defy the laws of physics, I would take a stab at
creating it for you.

If you have more questions, please email me at: julielj at neb.rr.com

Thanks!
Julie

Hi! What is the difference between the traditional leather harness and an
"on the go" harness?

I have an "On the Go" harness and it is awesome! Unfortunately, my
Collie/Shepherd was much smaller than my current guy so it doesn't fit!
Perhaps I could get an extension similar to those extensions used for
persons of size on the airplanes? Please let me know!

Marion

I used to make nylon harnesses, under the business name, On The Go. I
decided not to do it anymore and sold my supplies. The new owner called
the business, Paw Power Creations. The gentleman who ran that business has

passed away. To the best of my knowledge Paw Power Creations is no more.

I am considering taking on a small number of harness projects. If you want

a nylon harness and are willing to be on a waiting list, please contact me
at julielj at neb.rr.com

Thanks,
Julie

Hi, Everyone.

When I first joined the list, I remember seeing a message about being able
to purchase a harness, but can't remember who sent it or where I could
purchase from. Would appreciate any tips.

Thanks,

Dani
