[nagdu] saying my goodbyes to Motley

Chantel, sorry the refresher didn't work for Motley. It sucks when you have
to retire a dog early from behavior issues. But there's really no
guarentees when we get these dogs. Hope you don't have to wait too long for
a new dog.

I have been kind of MIA on the lists lately. I had retired Landon on May
15th and he is doing well in his new home. He is a resident therapy dog for
a Sunrise Senior Living facility in Carlsbad, CA. This is a chain of VERY
nice upscale assisted living homes where most of the residents suffer from a
dementia of some sort, I found out about this place from someone I know
whose mother is in this facility. Landon is having a good time playing with
the residents and staff and I can keep in touch with them to check up on
Landon from time to time.

I am recovering from a somewhat major surgery that I had on May 20th. I am
still sore and wearing bandages still but drains were taken out two days
ago. But I am thrilled with the results and will be more and more as I
heal. I will be starting my activities slowly starting Monday. I will be
using my cane for the summer and will be ready for a new dog in August if
there's a match for me then. I am very happy!

Best wishes for all who have already or are going for new dogs and hope you
are all having a good summer so far. I will check in as I can. Oh, I am
part of a group who is starting a new San Diego chapter of the NFB. We are
in the process of organizing the chapter. There are a couple of guide dog
users among us and I will try to get them to join NAGDU!

Take care all!

Lyn and no Landon
