Hello Craig,
I have pet insurance for my Guide Dog. I have researched pet insurance
companies extensively, and the company whom I have found to offer the most
comprehensive coverage is Veterinary Pet insurance (VPI). The website for

I have the Major Medical Plan with optional CareGuard Premier coverage. I
pay $52.00 per month. The Major Medical Plan has an annual $100.00
deductable, and 100 percent coverage up to $14,000 annually after the
$100.00 deductable is met. The CareGuard Premier coverage partially covers
annual wellness examinations, vaccinations, teeth cleanings, heartworm and
flea and tick preventative medications, among other things.
I have had pet insurance for a year, and I have been very satisfied with my
experience with Veterinary Pet insurance. They were very understanding when
I canceled the policy on my Guide Dog who retired early, and I enrolled my
new Guide Dog upon graduation from training. The customer service
representatives are very nice, and willing to answer questions and explain
things. I scan my completed claim forms, and email the PDFs to the specific
claim submission email address. A fax number is also available for
submitting claims.
