[nagdu] Comments

JMHO, this can go both ways. If it is someone who I think knows nothing about guide dogs, much less blindness, then, yes, it does bother me. However, if it is someone who I know and who I know understands what Lexia does, it does not bother me. Our dogs do, in a way, care for us. They love us, and they want to help us.

Hello Jody,

I definitely can relate to the situation you described when people tell your dog to take care of you. I hate that. Of course I know they don't want to be rude or stupid. They just want to say something nice, I guess. But it's just going on my nerves. Well, I'm a very new guide dog owner but already fed up with people's comments. The other day I walked across the train station and a woman said loud and clear: "He takes care of her. Otherwise she wouldn't get along." That was just so annoying. She didn't talk to me but to someone who was with her and I was only walking by so I couldn't really stop and explain how it works. But I have a feeling that most people seem to think blind folks only grab the handle and follow their dogs without doing anything.

greetings from Germany
Lisa
