I have been known to remove the harness so that my dog will fit 
better on the floor, and on plane flights, I do not leave the 
harness on.  I do not allow my dog on seats of cars, not even our 
car.  If she got used to riding on the seat in our car, then it 
would be hard to keep her from getting on seats in other people's 
cars, including taxis, rides with Uber or Lyft.  My retired guide 
must feel a little smug because he does get to ride on the 
backseat.  But that's between him and my husband.  (Smile).
