Hi Daryl well I am glad that the barking has improved. I am sorry that the
ears aren't looking perfect but as you say you know some of the problems and
you are watching Jenny and good luck with the ear wash outs daily.

I find that Kiara doesn't drink much and that is a worry for me also. Kiara
wasn't doing well and they told me to make sure to get water in her and I
used my fingers and got water in them and she drank and this helped. Some
dogs like ice chips and this is a good way to help them get more water.

I hope Jenny and you get through this hard time and come out knowing each
other better and the bond grows.

I found this with Kiara and the health problems we are going through and she
and I have grown more each day and learn more about each other.

Louise and Princess Kiara

Subject: [nagdu] Jenny update - latest vet visit

Hello, all!

I took Jenny to the vet for her followup visit. Unfortunately, while her
pawing and scratching has decresed, it is still happening frequently enough
that the vet looked in her ears and found some pretty nasty stuff. It does
not appear to be an infection, but more of an irritant; my own ttheory is
that the increased pressure in the air is making an already painful
situation worse, as she does not scratch/paw so much (or bark randomly) when
the pressure is low). The vet also confirmed that the left ear (the side
she is most reactive on) IS more irritated than the right. The carrots and
ice chips I have given her DO help when she needs to chew and swallow and
get some relief.

I will be flushing Jenny's ears daily for seven days, and she is on
medication for the allergies for the next 14 days.

The vet also did a urinalysis, and for the second time Jenny's creatanine
(sp?) was high. It was explained to me that it MIGHT indicate the very
early stages of a kidney disorder, but the rest of the results don't point
that way. It is also possible that Jenny is just dehydrated - she doesn't
usually drink water at work, and our vet appointments are always after work.
So we will go back in and do another test after she has for sure had water.
I also think I am going to switch out her water dish at work; either she is
just not thirsty or is reluctant to drink out of that dish in particular.

On the super plus side, the barking issue that started this whole thing has
decreased dramatically. On the rare barking occasions, it is one bark and
she quiets quickly, and she hasn't barked at anyone since Frida ywhen a
fight broke out beside her. :)

Thanks for reading!

Daryl
