Hi, Pam,
If you have a good relationship with your vet, talk to him or her about this. I trust my vet; we work as a team. The worm/flea/tic preventatives depend entirely on the climate where you are, and the lifespan and climate suitable for creepy crawlies to live. For this reason, I use flea/tic preventatives for 6 months of the year (Apr-Oct), starting this year. It seems absolutely ridiculous using it when temperatures would not support the life of fleas and tics.
