Healthy dogs cannot get pest infestations, so I focus on boosting and
maintaining my dog's immune system. An optimally functioning immune
system works well on its own to defend the body from internal and
external pests. I give my dog a product called Liquid Aloe Vera Plus
made by Country Life. It is aloe vera juice loaded with herbs such as
turmeric, turkey rubarb, ginger, and other herbs that support immune
function, healthy GI tract, and are antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory,
and cleansing/detoxifying.
My Golden Guy had a weak immune system and ended up getting fleas last
September. I gave him 1 oz daily for a week of the liquid aloe vera
plus, and he no longer had fleas by the end of the week. This product
contains ginger and burdock root, which are herbs known for being pest
repellent, among other benefits. For a maintenance dose, I give him 1
oz 3 times weekly. For a therapeutic dose when he is sick, I give 1 oz
daily for 7 days. I have only used the therapeutic dose 3 times within
the past year and a half, and it has worked 100% of the time to
restore health.
It comes in a 32 oz bottle, and only costs around $15, and lasts for 2
and a half months. Less costly, less toxic, and an overall healthier
alternative to conventional pesticides.
Check out the product and its ingredient list at the links below:

I don't worry about heartworm since the chances of my dog getting an
infestation are nil.
Want to know why I avoid flea, tick, and heartworm pesticides? Check
out some of the below articles to gain an understanding of how harmful
and toxic these products are for you and your four-legged friends.
