Hi Becky, Leader has actually expanded their program, received an award for
this with the 98% placement rate from dogs raised through the correctional
LD program. It's not as bad as some people make LD out to be.

Steve, I heard that as well. The matching the readiness of the dog is much
higher. Great Leader is still working with this type of fine prison program.
The prison guards take some of the dogs home who were cleared for the
program. They have tasks to expose the dogs to.

Leader Dog has some really good data on this. They don't get any extra
privileges or reduced sentences, but what I do understand is that they put
their heart and souls into raising these dogs. One swear word, or any
violation of their contract, they get the dog taken away. LD has a 98%
match rate with the dogs raised in the correctional system...and the dogs
are very well disciplined. Think about it, what else does an inmate have to
do all day?

It would be fun for those who might haved helped train a dog to see how well
it has worked out.

Hi Cindy, I have sung at a state prison and I did bring my dog.
They were okay with it, even showed me where I could relieve her if I needed
to. The people I was with were telling me how the guys watched her and
smiled at hg. So maybe even tough criminal
guys like dogs? Debby and Nova
