[nagdu] The other resolution, was RE: The membership has spoken, and I am disappointed

I have no words. Perhaps I just live under a rock, but I didn't even know
there was a second resolution. If NAGDU is going to propose resolutions it
would have been nice if there had been announcements here and on the
Facebook page. We need to know what the issues are, what the resolutions
are, what the entities involved are, what it would mean for the future of
guide dog use and have the opportunity to ask questions beforehand, so we
can make an informed vote.
It's very clear from the recent messages that I'm not the only one that
didn't know about the resolutions, completely understand them and we
obviously don't have agreement even within NAGDU. If we don't have
significant support within NAGDU how exactly do we suppose that the whole
organization is going to understand or support our resolutions?
Maybe I'm totally out in left field. I'm not at convention and didn't
therefore have the opportunity to vote. I am well aware of the NFB's view
on resolutions, voting and attendance at national conventions. I also know
that guide dog issues are important to me. I would have very much been
appreciative of the opportunity to discuss my views with my state
leadership.

What or who is NAC? I couldn't decide whether I should agree or not. On one
hand, who cares where Leader gets there money. On the other, if this NAC is
really a bad organization, I can't say because I don't know it.

Did the other Nagdu resolution go through? The one about Leader Dogs and
NAC? Just curious...

Resolutions are policies of the NFB. So, since the resolution says that the
NFB should urge guide dog schools to provide immediate ownership, then
that's what the NFB would do. We would urge the schools to change their
policies on ownership. With the urging of the organization, it is hoped that
the schools would change their policies. But the point is that the NFB would
now be actively opposing policies of anything but absolute ownership. I
hope that helps.
