I like goldens because I've been around them most of my life.
I had requested a golden as my first breed of dog when I had applied  at 
Pilot dogs.
My golden is quiet and doesn't make a sound.

Pam, I had a college roommate who had several dogs. She did 4H so I knew her
dogs would be well behaved as I assumed guide dogs would be. She brought
first a bi-colored labby, black with a white chest. I only met one other lab
with such a long coat. I was truly amazed how thick and lovely his coat was.
He was huge, but very gentle. But somehow he just wasn't right somehow. Then
she brought her golden, which is a breed I never saw before. I was in love.
Funny my first golden looked nothing like my roommate's dog, but I was still
in love. I have asked for goldens. Jake is my third golden and he is such a
love very cuddly but loves to be alone as well. Jake is not a needy dog. He
is very easy to work, very confident.

so just wondering if any of u chose a particular breed as a guide dog and
your reasons why? i didn't mind what breed i got as long as it suited my
needs but i was told i would b getting a sensitive dog. i know a couple of
people who always go for shepherds so they usually have to wait a bit longer
for a new dog when the time comes.
