True, but as was stated earlier, it is as part of the medical deduction
option, which first of all requires that you file a long form, making the
preparation costs higher, and second the minimum (whatever that is this
year) must be met. All of your guide dog related care expenses and food,
vet, etc. + your own medical expenses must add up to a certain amount to
qualify for a medical deduction. This year, with Hunter's $6000 in vet
expenses alone, I'm sure we qualify, but I'm not sure the actual savings on
our taxes will amount to enough to warrant  the cost of having a long form
prepared.

	It is my understanding you can deduct dog food, grooming, and
veterinarian expenses from Federal taxes. At least, my wife and I do!
