[nagdu] Uber and the ADA

I have also joined the club of guide dog users denied by uber. I was waiting for a ride outside of a restaurant in Columbus, and needed to be downtown for a panel in a half hour. The driver pulled up, but we could not find him. The person I was with, also blind, but not with a dog, called the driver to see where he was. The driver said he saw us, hung up the phone, and cancelled the ride. As a result, I was late and not a very happy camper.
This just frustrates me that they can try to skate around the law, but the drivers say, at least the good ones do, that they have received a memo about service animals.

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back.
