Agree with Rebecca. I actually find that going in with confidence, as though there's nothing out of the ordinary and no problem, and, as she said, you've got every right to be there, really does work. I can count the number of times I've had access refusals, excepting of course for taxicabs, on both hands with fingers left over. I'd almost say on one hand, but it's possible I'm forgetting something.
