[nagdu] I'm going to get in trouble--dogs in the back

My dogs have always known the difference too. In general, they don't ride in
the front at my feet. with my right knee fused, my leg takes a lot of the
floor space, and I'm already nervous about air bags, since I'm only five
feet tall. I don't want my dog in the path of one of them. I mostly ride
with friends or family who are also dog people and don't mind my dog on the
back seat, or in an SUV in the way back. If was ride with someone I'm not
too familiar with, I have some old sheets I keep around and offer to bring
one to cover their car seat and floor.

I have found that Soleil can generalize.
She rides on the floor in back with me when we are in taxies, in cars
belonging to my employer, in of course on the bus.
Otherwise, she rides on the seat. Most of my friends are ASL interpreters
or people with other jobs that involve driving so like Raven's sister's car,
the floor is a catch-all for everything. So it's the back seat.
I do have a seatbelt and we do use it while she's on the seat.
Soleil is never confused about where to sit and does not try to sit on the
seat in the rare event we take a taxi.
She is a pro at getting under the airplane seat and does not seem to mind.
