Dar:

Well, you and lots of other folks surely will have a white Christmas. Here
in Central Indiana we only had a few inches. With 20 inches of snow and
those 40 below wind chills you really don't have any choice but to stay
inside and keep warm. We hat temps of 5 this week and 10 to 15 below. Eva
will run out and come back in quickly. Tomorrow we are in for sleet and
rain changing back to snow. We all know what that means, It will be all
ice with lots of lumpy snow. I guess I will have to get little ice skates
for Eva's paws. She really isn't much of a cold weather dog. My previous
golden retrievers loved playing and working in the snow but Eva doesn't seem
interested. She also has not grown a very thick coat. I guess her body got
confused by the much warmer than usual weather we had here the past two
months. Eva also has very sensitive paws and reacts to the snow melting
products. I use paw wax on her but it doesn't help much on her sensitive
paws. I have never seen an adult dog with such sensitive soft pads on her
paws. Herd's still feel like puppy paws. By the way, I saw last night that
Vermont Country Store, www.vermontcountrystore,com, has Musher's Secret.
Eva is like me, she hates the heat and humidity and is not fond of ice and
snow either. Anyway I hope all of you and your dogs are safe in this
weather. I find when we are stuck at home finding new toys and games keeps
the dog occupied. I also use this time to work on obedience, food avoidance
and other household behaviors you might not pay as much attention to when
you are busy going out all the time. This is also a good time to spend time
teaching new tasks. This year I am going to tackle teaching Eva to fetch
dropped items. With my multiple sclerosis getting worse I am always
dropping things and with arthritis making it difficult to bend down to get
them having her pick them up for me will be great. She already loves to
pick things up and carry them around with her. I only wish she would learn
to put them away where they belong. Hey maybe I will teach her to pick up
her toys and put them back in her basket. That would save me having to
crawl around to find them all before I run the vacuum to pick up all her
golden fur. So, it is only a week left until Christmas so, happy shopping
and Merry Christmas.

Sandra and Eva

We have 20 inches of snow,
I stand in the door way letting her out to go where she wishes to go.
I figure I can get out again when weather is better to pick up after her.
Also we are to get wind chill minus 40 degrees.
I don't know how to get her to go fast, she takes her sweet time.
We are fine in the house no matter how board she gets.
We play toys then I feel she needs to entertain herself just a bit
chewing a bone and just relaxing.
I don't let her go out every five minutes because she is board.
Who ever asked for a white Christmas sure got one.
We will have to get someone to get the snow blower over to get us out,
then we can go places again.
Safe at home is just rite for us.
I don't have baby socks to put on her feet nor do I have boots her size.
We will get threw this the best we know how, just wanted to share how
much of everything we got.
Plus sharing how we are getting threw it all.
Playing and just relaxing.
