[NAGDU] vacuum cleaners

My Dyson is a standard upright, with a cord. It is a few years old, so options may have changed. Hope not--batteries always die, sooner or later.
The filter is not hard to clean, IMO. It takes a while to dry, like a day in the sun.
I have to stick my hand into where the bin attaches and clean out some dust where the nozzles go into the bin, but it's not especially difficult. I also have to shake the bin a bit to get all the fur out.
This is my first bagless; I don't know how others are. My mother had one where you put water in the bin to contain the dust. That part worked, but the dust predictably turned to mud, and it was a bear to clean.

The reviews had a lot of things about difficulty in emptying the canister
and cleaning the filters. A lot of the reviewers also had previously owned
Dyson's and said the pet model wasn't as great as their previous model.
Maybe people just like to complain? I don't know, it's vacuuming after all, not a trip to Disney. How fabulous can it get? LOL

I currently have an Orik, doubt I'm spelling that right. Anyhow it worked great in the beginning. Now all the bristles on the brush part are worn off and the top half randomly detaches from the bottom half at the most inconvenient times.

The Dyson also said it was good for allergies, which is a big selling point
for me, if it's accurate. I've noticed lately that after I vacuum there is
that weird vacuum odor and it seems more dusty, not less. I think it's just stirring things up and not containing the dust and hair like it should.

Does the Dyson come in a corded option? I store my vacuum in the closet and there is no way to plug in the charging station in there.

Thanks for the feedback!
Julie

I have the Dyson Pet, and I really like it. It is bagless. It picks up a ton of fur and dirt. If I accidentally vacuum up something I want, it's easy to dig it out of the bin. It has a filter for dust, which is reasonably easy to clean, and prevents that funny vacuum cleaner smell. And it has an attachment that makes cleaning the stairs actually easy. It also switches from carpet to hard surfaces with the press of a button.
I've had mine a few years now, and haven't had any trouble with it at all.
Don't know why the reviews you saw were mixed. Guess you can't please everyone.
I bought mine from QVC, because I knew, if I didn't like it, I could send it back. It was about $500, but I've never regretted the investment.

It is time for me to replace my vacuum cleaner and I’m looking for suggestions. I want an upright for sure. Bags are okay, but I’d prefer a
bagless system. I have two dogs who don’t shed crazily, but enough that I
want a vacuum that can handle pet hair easily. I looked at the Dyson Pet Plus Allergy, which I had heard good things about. The reviews were mixed though. Is there another vacuum that is especially good for dog hair? I’m willing to spend a good amount for a vacuum that will last a while.

Suggestions? Recommendations? Models to avoid?
Thanks in advance!
Julie
