Hi Martianne,Harley likes to scoot sometimes. What I do with him is once he "assumes the position" I tighten up on his leash so he can't move. Your Mileage May Vary.

I am sure some people will have a comment about this technique.  I have a scooter pooper so I leave her harness on.  When she begins to poop I grab the harness so she can't move and when she is finished I know where to find her gift.  Yes, the school taught me to always remove the harness before relieving my dog but grabbing the harness is the only thing that will keep her from moving.  She can almost go in a complete circle if I don't do this.
