Hello, Alysha,
Would you please write me off list? I would love to talk with you about raw feeding.
Thank you,
Kolby

Hi Danielle,
I've been feeding Darwin's to my dog for the last 4 months or so. I chose it
because the food seems to be of very good quality at a much cheaper price
than other commercial raw options. It was also recommended to me by an
instructor at the Seeing Eye. I think Darwin's is about 70% meat. Most of
the other big name options like Primal or Stella and Chewy's have a larger
meat content, but they are much less affordable. As a service dog owner, you
can get a 25% discount from Darwin's if you show proof that your dog is a
guide dog. With that discount, it costs me about $155 to feed my 55 lb. dog
for a month. I know it would be cheaper to make my own raw diet, but I'm not
comfortable doing that. I do not feed the more expensive, all-organic
option, and I get a mixture of the four meats they offer. My dog seems to be
doing great on the food so far. I transitioned him to it slowly over a bit
more than a week. He had some stomach trouble on the first day, but he did
fine after that. He is a lab, so he never turns his nose up at food, and
this was no exception. His poop is now much smaller and less disgusting
which is a nice side benefit of feeding raw. The food comes in 0.5 lb.
patties which take about a day to thaw in my fridge. I order a month's
supply of food at a time and store it in a separate freezer until I'm ready
to serve it. It would be pretty difficult to feed frozen raw if you don't
have lots of freezer space though.

I've had to get a little creative when traveling with my dog and feeding
raw. For road trips, I can bring a small cooler and make sure I'll have
access to a mini fridge wherever I'm staying. I'm really not sure about
carrying this food on a plane though. I've only had to fly once since
starting the food, and I had a batch shipped to my location. Unfortunately,
ordering in small quantities can be ridiculously expensive.

The only issue I've had with Darwin's has been some inconsistent customer
service. After I started feeding Darwin's, the company apparently switched
to a new computer system which caused lots of havoc with the company. I had
several orders that were billed incorrectly, and it was difficult to get
things straightened out. I think the worst is over though. They've been
quite responsive the last couple of times I've contacted them.

Feel free to let me know if you have any more questions about Darwin's!

Alysha
