Congratulations Michael, warm smile. Just got a note from your classmate Jim
with Thor, also a black labby, smile. After first feeding and park time,
Jake likes to either rough play or soft play. This morning was soft play. He
just wanted his ears scratched, important you know, smile. In the afternoon
is when this silly boy loves to run around play tug. Then time for a nap,
very important, smile. Then a good bone chewing as he is the type of dog who
can entertain himself. Then play hard after dinner chasing his paw brother
under the table and barking his head off to come and play more. I am lucky
that way. But then soft play with me. Even when he was young he mostly
entertained himself. So several times a day for short hard play sessions,
and then several soft play sessions, when young. But mostly try to walk with
a young dog. PJ, instructor at TSE says "a tired dog is a good dog."

I let him initiate play, unless I need him later to sit at a meeting
quietly, when young that is. Then I will grab his bone and pretend to chew,
or tickle his paw, something to get him up and moving. But mostly I work at
home and let Jake decide when he wants to play. If I am busy figuring out a
new pattern, then I tell him to lay down. But I do stop what I am doing in a
few minutes, especially when young, and play with him. We work on come and
rest in the house and then my voice gets excited and we play a bit, when
young. Then back to work for me and a snooze or bone chew for Jake.

You know TSE grads have our own list on Google groups. Write me privately
and others TSE grads and I will send you the contact information.

Subject: [NAGDU] New seeing eye graduate and a question

hey Guys,
I just graduated from the seeing eye this past Thursday with my black lab
Titan. Been about five years since I worked with a dog guide, and I'm a bit
rusty. Just wanted to introduce myself as I have subscribed to this resource
so that I can learn what others go through and how I can best be successful
with this amazing . Hope everyone's doing well! And we are learning my
routes at home, and it's an evolving experience. One question for you, how
much play time do you implement into your daily schedules? Never stop being
amazing.
Michael
